You base the law on the least person in society, and then everyone above them has that right." David Instone-Brewer

Description

The question of divorce has long been problematic for Jews, Christians, and others. What is the Biblical view of divorce? Is it permissible at all? If so, when? Can divorce even be a positive good in some cases?

Dr. David Instone-Brewer is a senior research fellow at Tyndale House in Cambridge. A Christian minister as well as a scholar, he has conducted extensive research on rabbinic literature and its relationship with the first-century Jewish texts known to Christians as the “New Testament.” He is the author of Divorce and Remarriage in the Bible: The Social and Literary Context and Divorce and Remarriage in the Church: Biblical Solutions for Pastoral Realities

Dr. Cyndi Parker is a Professor of Holy Land Studies at Israel Bible Center. She is an expert educator and writer specializing in the land and context of the Bible, trips to Israel, and Theology of Place. Her Ph.D. dissertation (University of Gloucestershire) was entitled “Deuteronomy’s Place: An Analysis of the Placial Structure of Deuteronomy.”

Dr. Yeshaya Gruber is a Professor of Jewish History at Israel Bible Center. His research focuses on Jewish and Christian texts, traditions, and interactions throughout history. His recent publications include "Languages of the Bible and Polish–Jewish Relations" and "Hebrew in Russia."
