“God is eternal, but the way He expresses Himself has to relate to a particular language and a particular society.” Rabbi Dr. Norman Solomon

Description

Does God change his mind? Why do we seem to read different rules in different parts of the Bible?

Rev. Dr. David Instone-Brewer is a senior research fellow at Tyndale House in Cambridge. A Christian minister as well as a scholar, he has conducted extensive research on rabbinic literature and its relationship with the first-century Jewish texts known to Christians as the "New Testament." He is currently working on a major multivolume project entitled Traditions of the Rabbis from the Era of the New Testament as well as developing www.STEPBible.com (Scripture Tools for Every Person). Dr. Instone-Brewer's other books include The Jesus Scandals: Why He Shocked His Contemporaries (and Still Shocks Today); Divorce and Remarriage in the Bible: The Social and Literary Context; and Moral Questions of the Bible: Timeless Truth in a Changing World.

Dr. Norman Solomon (University of Oxford) is a rabbi, interfaith consultant, scholar, and author on a wide range of topics related to ethics and theology. He has been vice president of the World Congress of Faiths and held many other prominent teaching, research, and community positions.
